BIOGRAPHY:
Nela Milic is a PhD candidate in the department of Visual Sociology at Goldsmiths University. She had a versatile arts and media career,
from filmmaking for the most popular television station in Serbia and writing on culture for the Daily Telegraph, to running a national
organization for promotion and development of refugees in arts and working for AlJazeera. She is a regular contributor to publications
on refugees, Serbia, media and art and an editor of arts pages for New Londoners newspaper. Her work has been exhibited in John Lewis,
Oxford House, Light Gallery, Oxo Tower and her poetry is read across the UK. She often works with European Commission and Cultural
Foundation and is interested in the east/west divide. Her theses is an overview of the culture of protest with focus on Belgrade in
’96/’97 when the cit(y)zens rebelled against Slobodan Milosevic. Balkanising Taxonomy is her PhD project.
